Round 3: Fremantle V West Coast
This is a pearler.
Josh Carr loves the niggle. So when West Coast’s Daniel Chick complained to umpires that Carr had punched him in the ribs, AFL investigations officer Bill Kneebone charged Carr with striking and suspended him for 3 weeks.
Nice one, Chicky. Dobber.
Except that it never happened. So this page doesn’t have a video …
Match Review Panel Assessment:
Josh Carr, Fremantle, has been charged following an investigation by AFL Investigations Officer Bill Kneebone with striking Daniel Chick, West Coast, during the first quarter of the Round Three match between Fremantle and West Coast, played at Subiaco on Saturday April 14, 2007.
In summary, due to his previous poor record, he can accept a two-game sanction.
The incident was assessed as intentional contact (three points), medium impact (two points) and body contact (one point). This is a total of six activation points, which relates to a Level Three Offence, drawing 225 demerit points and two match sanction. He has an existing poor record of three matches suspended within the last three years, which increases his penalty by 30 per cent to 292.50 points and he also has 25 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, which increases his penalty to 317.50 points and a three-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 238.13 points and a two-match sanction.
What Actually Happened:
Daniel Chick made it all up. And the Match Review Panel believed him.

This was the most outrageous incident in the history of the AFL. Chick the ‘hard man’ of the eagles really showed his true colours. I heard the only thing they could find on the footage was him sitting on his haunches after a Peter Bell tackle. How in the world he didnt get fined or suspended for his cock and bull story I’ll never know, plus the fact the MRP took the guy seriously!!
If this had been a Docker (purely hypothetical of course coz it wouldnt happen) he would have been rubbed out for 2 weeks and fined considerably for making bogus claims
In summary: pathetic
