I’ve added some stuff on Matthew Lloyds charge from Round 13. Compare it to Goodes and Didak.
If Adam Goodes and Alan Didak got off for this sort of thing, how can Lloyd get suspended for 1 week??
Makes no sense.

No posts for a while. Been busy at work and the MRP hasn’t had a crack at a Freo player for a while.
Of course, since the AFL hadn’t suspended a Freo player this round, the club decided to DIY. For the sake of consistency …
I’ve added Anthony Roccas bump on Dempster from Round 12. Max Rookes front-on bump against Ricciuto from Round 11 has also been added (no footage yet). These are the only two bump incidents this year where the bumpee was injured – Ricciuto was dazed and groggy and didn’t return to the field, Dempster was taken from the field and didn’t get a touch when he returned later.
Perhaps the MRP is becoming more consistent mid-season? Pity the guys that were hung out to dry at the start of the year.
Enjoy the second half of the season!!
I’ve added a page comparing incidents for Solomon (Freo), Goodes (Sydney) and Didak (Pies).
Again, Freo was shafted, the other two get off.
If the MRP was consistent, they’d either all get off or they’d all receive similar charges and penalties.
I’ve updated the page on Heath Blacks reprimand for tackling a player in the St Kilda game.
I’ve compared Blacks tackle, where no-one was injured, to two tackles from Byron Picket this year that caused concussion and knee injuries. The Match Review Panel only thought Blacks tackle was worth a charge.
Another obvious example of MRP inconsistency. Freo should’ve challenged it.
I was going to create a comparison of Didak’s report from the Pies V Freo game from last Friday to Adam Goodes charge on Simon Godfery (Round 5). The umpire was right on the spot, didn’t report it and paid a free kick down field. But, as is their way, the MRP decided it was worth a 1 week suspension. I was thinking if Goodes got off, why was Didak going to get 1 week.
At the Tribunal, Collingwood and Didak successfully argued that, although Didak changed direction to run into Hasleby, football “is a contact sport … it does happen” and “contact such as this occurs week in, week out”. Even the umpire told the tribunal “there’s no need for a report”. The Tribunal agreed and let Didak off.
Probably a sensible decision, even though Didak whacked one of my favorite players.
However, it does beg the question as to why Steven Dodd, Dean Solomon and Josh Carr and received a week each for incidents similar or less impact?
As usual, Freo gets shafted. Perhaps Fremantle Football Club should be kicking up a stink like the Pies did?
The MRP offered Crowley 1 week for an early plead to last week-ends front-on-bump, which he took. Probably fair enough it itself, but as I continue to say, what about the other ones??
Didak also got 1 week for whacking Haselby in the back – it’ll be interesting to compare this one to Goodes charge on Godfery, where Goodes got off.
There’s nothing on the AFLPA site yet, so the best article is at Sportal.
An interesting, but unsurpising, article in The Australian today. According to AFL umpires boss Jeff Gieschen, Barry Hall doesn’t get a fair deal from the umpires and hasn’t for years. This is a few weeks after Jeff said that certain players, like Judd and Kerr, get looked after by the umpires.
Well, I guess it’s better to be honest than try and cover up the obvious. Well done Jeff.
Now fix it.
I’ve reorganised things to make comparisons easier.
Thanks for the positive comments so far from Freo supporters.
For the non-Freo supporters, this site isn’t meant to be just about Freo (there is a reason) – if there are any Reports, MRP Assessments or Tribinal decisions that are dodgy or inconsistent, please let me know and I’ll stick them on. Links to video footage (YouTube, etc) is good.
Let see what magic the AFL can conjure up this week.
Ryan Crowley (Fremantle) was reported for front-on contact in tonights Pies V Freo game.
Bummer – he was just hitting some form tonight.
Not sure how those whacky boys at the MRP will see it – could let Crowley off completely, as he appeared to realise there was going to be a collision at the last minute and turned for the hit. On the other hand, Johnson went for a lesser bump.
I’ve added the Byron Pickett tackle on Kane Cornes from round six – compare this to Heath Blacks one from Round 9.
Picket got off, Black was Reprimanded.
